Many of the best basketball players from the tri-state area are expected in Greenburgh Friday night for the sixth Frankie Williams Charity Classic.
The event is scheduled for 8 p.m. at the Theodore D. Young Community Center. It will put several of the area’s high-major recruits on the court together. Those expected to participate include the Iona Prep trio of Ty Jerome (Virginia), Matt Ryan (Notre Dame) and Tom Capuano (Manhattan).
According to event organizer Tom Sampogna of the grassroots organization Frenji, a multitude of other high-major players will be in attendance.
The Frankie Williams Charity Classic has played host to multiple NBA players in previous years, including Lance Stephenson, Hassan Whiteside and Kemba Walker, and many more former local stars, most notably Kevin Jones and Sean Kilpatrick.
Doors will open at 7 p.m. and admission is $10 for adults and $5 for students. All proceeds are earmarked to benefit the academic and athletic programs at the Community Center.
