The Greenville Drive combined Jalen Beeks’ strong pitching with good hitting on Saturday and rolled to a 6-2 win against the Lexington Legends before a crowd of 5,005 at Fluor Field.
It was Greenville’s second consecutive win in the series.
Beeks pitched seven innings, allowing six hits, three of which came in the only inning in which the Legends scored. Beeks (9-4) struck out three and walked one.
The Drive backed him with 12 hits, including four in a four-run sixth that broke open the game.
Francisco Tellez led off with a double and later scored on a passed ball. David Sopilka singled in Bryan Hudson, who had walked and Rafael Devers doubled in Sopilka and Danny Mars, who had singled.
Yoan Moncada led Greenville (16-19) with three hits, and Sopilka, Javier Guerra and Tellez had two hits each. Sopilka singled in a run in the second inning, and Guerrra drove in one in the third with a single after Mike Meyers had tripled.
Lexington (14-18) scored in the second on singles by Wander Franco, Brandon Downes and Alexis Rivera and in the eighth on a sacrifice fly by Corey Toups.
