Viera product Greg Young won the boys masters title and helped Junior Team USA win the overall championship at the 2015 Pan American Bowling Confederation Youth Championships in Panama City, Panama, this month.
Young, a member of Junior Team USA for three years, won two of three matches against Michael Tang of San Francisco in the masters boys category.
The USA boys won gold medals in five categories. Young teamed with Wesley Low to win the boys doubles silver medal.
Young was a two-time FLORIDA TODAY Boys Bowler of the Year and was named All-Space Coast each of his four years bowling for the Hawks. He helped the USA win gold at the World Youth Championships in Hong Kong in August 2014, and he won the Teen Masters Grand Championship twice while still a Viera student.
Young was a freshman bowler for McKendree University in Lebanon, Illinois, last year. He helped his team to a fifth-place finish at the xBowling Intercollegiate Team Championships in Wichita, Kansas, in April.
Schultheis wins Junior Olympic high jump
Tristan Schultheis of Astronaut High won the men’s high jump, clearing 6 feet, 10 inches last week in the 2015 AAU Junior Olympics at Disney’s Wide World of Sports.
Schultheis, the FHSAA Class 2A high jump champion in May, then jumped 6’8’’ to win that title. He also competed at the state meet in the pole vault. Schultheis will be a senior in the coming school year.

EFSC hosting co-ed soccer camp
Eastern Florida State College is hosting a co-ed Soccer Elite Preseason Training Camp beginning Monday and going through Friday at the Titan Soccer Complex on the Melbourne campus on Wickham Road.

Basketball camp opens Monday
Boys ages 8 through 16 are invited to Eastern Florida State College’s basketball camp beginning Monday at the Titan Field House on the Melbourne campus. Cost is $99 each camper. Registration will begin at 7:45 a.m Monday.
