Cameron Lindley, a senior at Guerin Catholic, has been chosen youth player of the year by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.
The 18-year-old midfielder is one of six repeat selections among 40 boys chosen as All-Americans.
Lindley, 5-9 and 165 pounds, is a Carmel resident. He played for the Chicago Fire team that won the 17-18 U.S. Soccer Development Academy national championship. He has subsequently been promoted to the U20 national team.
Lindley, who has committed to North Carolina, is rated the nation’s No. 1 high school prospect in the 2016 class by College Soccer News.
He also plays point guard for Guerin Catholic’s basketball team and helped guide the Golden Eagles to last year’s Class 3A state basketball championship.
