With just a handful of games left on the schedule, Hancock Central High School’s boys’ basketball team is still undefeated.
The state championship team in 2008 only lost twice, and this bunch of Bulldogs is in pursuit of a another title for head coach Anthony Webb.
Hancock Central, now 15-0, beat Aquinas for the second time this season on Tuesday night. Now, the Dogs have seven games left before the playoffs, and they already beat four of them earlier in the season.
Here’s Coach Webb on how the Dogs are getting it done:
“I got a senior-led team. I had 12 guys return from last year’s team. I guess they decided to come out and play this year, Webb said before Tuesday night’s game against Aquinas.
Even with the success, Webb is nowhere near satisfied with his team.
“We’ve started jelling. We’re still playing pretty good but we’re not where we want to be. I just try to get them to be consistent with what they do. If the shot’s not there, we just have to pick it up on the defensive end. When we get both the offense and defense going, we’ll win ball games.”
The Bulldogs play Warren County Friday night, then have a huge matchup with rival Wilkinson County on Saturday.
