Hardin Valley head coach Wes Jones looks on as his team practices.

Hardin Valley was back to work on Monday, hitting the weight room and working on the practice field. The Hawks are looking to improve on a 2014 season that saw them return to the playoffs and finish with a record of 6-5.

The Hawks are in the new 6A, so they are in the playoffs no matter what happens during the season.

Hardin Valley is looking to replace some key pieces up front on both sides of the ball. But there are things to be excited about.

“We have a better group of skill guys in depth than we’ve had in years past,” said head coach Wes Jones. “Unfortunately, we’ve lost a lot of our big guys up front which is going to force us to have to spread the field a little more. So, we’re going to have to rely on that team speed this year and kind of get the ball to our guys in space.”

Hardin Valley opens the season on Thursday, August 20 against West.
