School: Kamehameha (Honolulu, Hawaii)
Grade: Junior
Height: 5-foot-10
Weight: 140 pounds

Athletic achievement: He raced to an individual state championship this past season with a time of 15:38.1, leading the Warriors to a state title as a team. Also the 2014 Interscholastic League of Honolulu Runner of the Year, Kruse was the fastest Hawaii competitor at the Foot Locker South Regional championships, clocking a 16:25.7 to cross the line in 33rd.

Academic excellence: Kruse has maintained a 3.88 GPA.

Exemplary character: A two-time winner in his age group at the Nautica United States Lifesaving Association’s National Junior Lifeguard Championships, he has volunteered locally on behalf of multiple community clean-up initiatives.


“Kaeo Kruse is an extremely dedicated worker and a stoic competitor,” said Kamehameha head coach Steve Jenness. “He is an excellent student and it never appears that any task is too big. He is truly fearless.”

THE FUTURE: Kruse will be a senior this fall.
