Thumb through the pages of North Buncombe football’s record book.
The fattest finger on the hand will have a callus by the time it arrives at something that approaches what the Black Hawks did last Friday.
North Buncombe’s points total in a 62-27 win at Madison is believed to be the second-highest in school history and the most attained by a Black Hawks team since 1969.
The school record is from a 64-28 win over Erwin 46 years ago (North Buncombe won that game, 64-28).
Chase Parker passed for 271 yards with touchdown passes to Blake Mathews (58 and 78 yards), who finished with six catches for 183 yards and a 94-yard kickoff return for a third score. In addition, Parker scored on quarterback keepers of 4 and 14 yards.
Finally, Nolan Lisenbee added touchdown runs of 3, 44 and 72 yards to break open a game at North Buncombe only led, 27-20, at the half.
Tommy Apostolopoulos connected for his third and fourth field goals of the season from 29 and 34 yards.
