Tuesday night’s American Legion playoff game between Haywood County Post 47 and Hickory Post 48 has been postponed due to wet field conditions.
It will now be played Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Lake Junaluska Elementary School.
Haywood County (21-5) won Game 1 of the best-of-five, third round series on Monday in Newton.
Cal Raleigh and Bret Baldwin had three hits apiece in a 7-5 victory that went 13 innings, including a 95-minute delay for severe weather. Bryce Burgess was the winning pitcher, taking over in relief for Hunter Stewart.
(Monday) night was a true test of wills,” Haywood County coach Mitchell Whitner said.
“A lot of factors went into that one. We had chances to win, they had numerous chances to win. Fortunately, we made some key plays when we had to. We’ve got the next game here now. And we feel good about our chances for sure if we can win it.”
