Brooklyn Kovalick’s two-run single in the seventh inning provided the insurance Monday as the visiting Bulldogs held off the Green Wave in Licking County League play.

Logan Purdy had two hits, two runs scored and two RBI, Hannah Smith two hits, including a double, and a run scored and Mikhayla Wolfe two hits and an RBI for Heath (4-7, 4-4), which scored three in the first inning, four in the sixth and three in the seventh. Smith struck out six and allowed two earned runs in a complete game.

NC (2-10, 1-9) rallied for five runs in the sixth inning but left the bases loaded trailing 7-6. Dani Evans had two hits, including a double, and two RBI, Jessaca Graves a hit and an RBI and Alex Thomas, Anna Fluharty and Kelsi Ruff each one hit and a run scored. Thomas struck out eight and allowed six earned runs.
