The best of last fall’s Green Mountain State football season were honored Sunday at the 22nd annual National Football Foundation Vermont Chapter Awards Dinner.

Middlebury’s Austin Robinson, the Gatorade and Burlington Free Press player of the year, earned the PRIDE award, the ninth annual honor that is sponsored by the Dolphin Foundation of South Burlington. Robinson, the quarterback, led the Tigers to back-to-back undefeated title seasons in Division I.

Other premier divisional finalists for the award were Chris Jansen of Division II champion Rice Memorial and Luke Langelier of BFA-Fairfax, D-III champ.

Judah Ward of Missisquoi was the inspirational winner of the most courageous athlete award and scholarship and Matt Larose was the recipient of the community service honor.

Other honors went to Kari Lamb of Barre (Vermont youth football achievement), former Hartford coach Mike Stone (contribution to amateur athletics) and former Fairfax coach and current CVU head man Mike Williams (coach of the year). Six seniors — MMU’s Jeff Carter, Colchester’s Grant Cummings, Essex’s Brendan Gleason, Rutland’s Jordan Godrey (Rutland), Middlebury’s Connor Quinn and Otter Valley’s John Winslow — each received $500 scholarships as scholar-athlete hall of fame inductees.

The Vermont Football Officials Association also gave out annual awards — George Lucia of Westminster for official of year and Fairfax and Mount Anthony for sportsmanship.

The National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame was founded in 1947 as a non-profit educational organization, according to the news release.
