During a high school girls basketball tournament at Hickory High School in Hermitage, Pa., Mercer (Pa.) player Kelsey Swartz shot a free throw and sunk the basket – literally.
As soon as Swartz’s shot hit the iron and bounced off, the rim immediately collapsed to the court. As hilarious as it is, the broken basket did end up delaying the Mercer vs. General McLane (Edinboro, Pa.) game for a whopping 45 minutes. General McLane won the game.
This free throw fiasco has also earned ESPN’s Not So Top 10 plays of the week honors.
It may be time to invest in some new buckets.
