Hannah Sullivan poured in three goals within the first ten minutes to lead the seventh-seeded host Marlboro High School girls soccer team in a 4-1 Section 9 Class B outbracket win over 10th-seeded Onteora Friday.
Kali Schindler recorded a goal assisted by Victoria Fino. Schindler added an assist, while Taylor DuBois contributed with three assists.
Eliz Fino had seven saves for Marlboro, which improved to 7-8.
Monroe-Woodbury 6, Franklin D. Roosevelt 0 — Kelsie McDowell made 10 saves and held the Crusaders scoreless in the first half, but the seventh-seeded Presidents fell to host second-seeded Monroe-Woodbury in their Section 9 Class AA outbracket game.
Roosevelt coach Barb Demczar said “it was a very defensive game for a long time.”
“We didn’t have a winning record this season,” added Demczar of the Presidents’ 4-9-1 season tally. “But we had many games where we played fantastic and the girls played together really well; a lot of games where we outplayed our opponents, but just couldn’t score when we needed to.”
Highland 1, Ellenville 0 — Emily Peterson scored the game’s only goal off an assist from Brooke Harris to lift the host eighth-seeded Huskies over the number nine Blue Devils in their Section 9 Class B outbracket game. Goalie Tori Capobianco made six saves. Coach Pete Watkins credited Emily Angelillo on a strong defensive game.
“She played great defense on their best player,” Watkins said of Angelillo. “Now we move on to play Spackenkill. We’re happy to be in it, anything can happen.”
The Spartans will host Highland at 2 p.m. Tuesday.
Spackenkill 1, Wallkill 0 — Gabby Prichard scored the game’s lone goal off an assist from Morgan Dominick to lead the Spartans to their second straight Mid-Hudson Athletic League title late Thursday.
“We’ve been waiting,” said Spackenkill coach Mike Corbett, whose Spartans improved to a spotless 16-0 overall. “We’ve been pretty competitive in MHALs the last five years. We knew this team was going to give us a really good game. Wallkill is a good team, this is a big confidence boost for us.”
Rachael Torella had four aces, 26 assists, seven kills and 11 digs to lead the visiting Arlington volleyball team in a 21-25, 25-15, 25-19, 25-21 win over Pawling.
Kira Payman had 12 kills and 12 digs, while Hami Kang had eight aces, eight kills and 14 digs for the Admirals (12-3).
For Pawling, Clara Lombardo had five aces, seven kills and six assists, and Mikayla Ward had three aces and five blocks.
Pawling (11-4) visits Our Lady of Lourdes at 6 p.m. on Tuesday.
Hendrick Hudson 3, Beacon 0 — Irina Alekseeva had 18 assists, 10 kills and seven digs for the visiting Bulldogs in their 21-25, 25-27, 20-25 loss.
Beacon (10-6) hosts Our Lady of Lourdes at 4:30 p.m. Monday.
Rondout Valley 3, Pine Plains 0 — Ashley Starzyk had four kills, two digs and two blocks for host Pine Plains in a 25-17, 25-9, 25-17 loss late Thursday.
Audrey Hollick added two aces and a kill, and Bella Starzyk had two aces for the Bombers (11-7).
