Mitchell Wiemer shot an 8-over-par 44 at Millbrook Golf and Tennis Club to lead Millbrook High School over Dover, 220-248, on Monday in boys golf.
Wiemer had three pars. Sophomore Mike Pasquale, a first-time golfer, shot a 50, including a birdie and a par. Christian Smith and Colby Whalen each had a 53 for Millbrook.
“Mike came off the course and said, ‘Coach, I think I did pretty well,'” Blazers coach Dan Funk said of Pasquale. “To get a birdie and a par without having much experience, that’s impressive. Hopefully that’ll keep him coming back and he’ll only get better.”
Dover’s Colin Harding shot a 58 and his brother, Nick Harding, had a 58.
Rondout Valley 169, New Paltz 176 – Wesley Watts shot a 1-under-par 35 at New Paltz Golf Course, though it came in a losing effort for New Paltz.
Travis Hornbeck shot a 39 to lead Rondout Valley.
Watts birdied three of his last four shots. Myles Shipe had a 46 and Nick Puleo shot a 48 for the Huguenots.
Rhinebeck 189, Coleman 220 – Steve Byrum shot a 45 to lead Rhinebeck (1-0). Ben Rinaldi and Parker Knoop each had a 46, and Cole Dixon shot a 52. Coleman’s Kyle Ferry had a 51.
New Paltz’s Halley Mastro defeated Suika Sono-Knowles, 7-5, 6-4, at third singles, but the host Huguenots fell to Onteora, 3-2.
Onteora won two of three singles matches and a doubles match to edge New Paltz.
Madeline Finnegan and Grace Morrissey beat Brook Parslow-Greta Gottardello, 6-2, 4-6, 6-4, in first doubles for New Paltz.
