High schools: Three area girls STAC all-conference

Three area players from the West Division are among those who have been selected as Southern Tier Athletic Conference Metro/West all-stars for the 2014-15 girls basketball season.

STAC West and Section 4 Class AA champion Horseheads had two picks: senior forward Amanda Schiefen and senior point guard Marlea Nolan.

Corning junior guard Olivia LeBaron was also picked the team, which was selected by the coaches.

Other Metro/West picks were Maine-Endwell junior Daniella Dean, Binghamton seniors Jodi-Marie Ramil, Hannah Spencer and Adrienne Graves; and Union-Endicott senior Nicole Kaczmarczyk.

STAC West all-division choices were Elmira sophomore Zaria Thomas, Horseheads senior Katie Reasons, Ithaca junior Jocelyn Wright, Corning junior Lauren Fie and Ithaca senior Tatiana Minnick.

Boys lacrosse

Elmira 9, Chenango Valley 5: At Elmira on Thursday, Nick Latshaw had four goals and Eli Halperin contributed two goals and three assists as the Express improved to 3-1 with a victory over Chenango Valley.

Tyler Moore, Connor Prunoske and Shea Ames each added a goal for Elmira.
