The Filson Historical Society has resurrected from its archives film highlights of the Male-Manual football rivalry from 1938-1946.
A viewing of the film collection of the classic high school competition from those golden years is scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 22, at the society’s library at Oxmoor Farm, 720 Oxmoor Farm Road behind Oxmoor Center. The event will be at 6 p.m.
Attendees will view the footage, during which there will be discussion and commentary from members of the duPont Manual and Male High School alumni associations.
After the film, around 7 p.m., there will be a panel of alumni representatives from each school to talk about the rivalry as it was then and remains today — more than 120 years after the first meeting of the two schools in 1892.
Seating is limited. To register, call 635-5083 or go to filsonhistorical.org/events.
In the past year, the Filson has preserved amateur film footage found within its collections, with financial backing from the community.
