It was quite simple for the Houston County baseball team on Saturday.
After splitting its first two region games against Lakeside-Evans, the defending Georgia state baseball champions had to win a weekend rubber match for a seed in the state playoffs.
One run was enough to win one game on Thursday. One run was too few in the must-win game, however. The Panthers won 4-1, and left Houston County out of the state playoffs.
Lakeside scored all four of its runs in the third inning. The Bears answered with a Jeremiah Stephens RBI-single in the bottom portion of the inning, but that was Houston County’s only impression on the score column.
