How do you spell upset?
The unranked Howell girls soccer team gained a huge road victory on Monday afternoon when the Rebels upset undefeated and No. 2 Freehold Township.
Howell senior forward Bethany Feinstein and freshman midfielder Jessica O’Brien collaborated on the game-winning play. O’Brien assisted on Feinstein’s goal in the 65th minute as the Rebels (5-2, 4-2) edged the Colonials (5-1-1, 3-1-1) in a Class A North game.
Howell junior goalie Rachel Kern made 11 saves and Freehold Township senior goalie Kaela Chadzuitko made five saves.
The goal was Feinstein’s second of the season and the assist was O’Brien’s first of the season. The Rebels have won four games in a row.

Manalapan 2, Freehold 1: The No. 9 Colonials (3-3-1, 2-2-1) scored first as Gianna Ritornaro tallied at 7:15 from a pass from Maria Amalfitano. However, the Braves (4-1, 4-1) rallied with two unanswered goals for the Class A North victory. First, Amanda DeMatteo scored at 51:03 and then Olivia Connors registered at 53:54 from a pass from Arianna Ferraro. Manalapan’s Ariel Kamen made nine saves and Freehold’s Stephanie Moir made 13 saves. Manalapan outshot Freehold, 16-10.
Red Bank Catholic 4, Neptune 0: Sophomore Jyllissa Harris notched a hat trick and led the Caseys (5-3-2) to a Class B North victory over the Scarlet Knights (3-5-1). Junior Sophie Demurjian added a goal and two assists and senior Jackie Robinson made five saves for her fourth shutout this season. Neptune’s Allie Kerwin made eight saves.

Colts Neck 4, East Brunswick 0: Frankie Tagliaferri recorded a goal and two assists as the No. 1 Cougars (7-0-1) defeated the Bears (5-2) in a nonconference game. Kara Camarco, Bridgette King and Kristi Mikula each added a goal.
Shore 2, Lacey 1: Senior Katie Stephens scored the game-winning goal in the 84th minute as the Blue Devils (6-2-1) outlasted the Lions (2-7) in a nondivisional game. Lacey sophomore Cassidy Meyh gave the Lions a 1-0 lead with her goal in the 65th minute before Shore scored two unanswered goals for the victory. First, Freshman Hannah Birdsall scored in the 69th minute and that set up the clinching goal from Stephens. Shore senior Katie Colaguori made seven saves and Lacey sophomore Caitlin Hughes made 10 saves. Shore outshot Lacey, 12-11.
Manasquan 5, Matawan 2: Kaitlyn Calabro had a hat trick and had one assist and Molly Wierman had two assists and Alyssa Balzano made seven saves as the Warriors (5-3-1) edge the Huskies (0-8). Matawan’s Courtney Wassmer and Dana Morgan each scored a goal and Kacey Lambertson made nine saves.
