H.S. Girls’ Tennis: Indians beat TA, weather

By

Fort Defiance swept the first five singles matches Tuesday before weather set in to halt play as the Indians toppled the Turner Ashby Knights 5-0 in girls’ tennis.

Whether the teams will complete the No. 6 singles and play the doubles or just play No. 1 doubles because of tournament seeding or not play any of the remaining matches will be determined at a later date by the two schools’ athletic directors.

Whitney Kiser, Noelle Witherow, Carly Wine, Ashley Crickenberger and Maya Simmons won their five singles matches by a combined 50-4 margin.

Fort is idle until April 8 when the Indians travel to Harrisonburg.

SINGLES — Kiser (FD) d. Vazquez 10-0; Witherow (FD) d. Mace 10-1; Wine (FD) d. Sanoval 10-2; Crickenberger (FD) d. Santos 10-0; Simmons (FD) d. Hearne 10-1; No. 6 singles suspended by rain.

DOUBLES — All three doubles matches suspended by rain.
