BENNINGTON – Erasing a two-goal halftime deficit, 11th-seeded South Burlington rallied after the break to post a 3-2 win over No. 6 Mount Anthony in the Division I high school girls soccer playdowns on Wednesday.
Annika Nielsen got the Rebels (7-7-1) on the board in the 48th minute and Posie Nash-Gibney struck from 40 yards on a free kick to equalize 2-2 midway through the second half.
Cameron Peyko notched the game-winner on a feed from Bella Navin with 10 minutes to play and Bailey Burt stopped six shots in net.
Bridget Ahearn and Kaidin Gauthier tallied for the Patriots (9-6) and Erika McCarthy made 11 saves.
•(8) Essex 2, (9) BFA-St. Albans 1: Jess Poratti scored each side of halftime as host Essex held off BFA-St. Albans.
Marisa Minadeo assisted the Hornets (8-6-1) first strike and Megan Macfarlane set up the second. Hannah Bovee finished with six saves.
Jenna McCracken got a goal back for the Comets with 6:16 to play and goalie Jessie Casey made 16 stops.
•(3) Champlain Valley 3, (14) North Country 0: Megan Gannon scored twice in the first half and Ali Bisaccia added to the lead after halftime to push CVU past visiting North Country.
Bisaccia, Catherine Cazayoux and Sara Kelley each had an assist for the Redhawks (12-2), who got a one-save shutout from Michaela Flore.
Melody Martin made 16 saves for North Country (5-10).
•(4) Mount Mansfield 1, (13) St. Johnsbury 0: Jordan Pelland scored in just the second minute off an assist from Fiona Tynion to provide the decisive strike in host Mount Mansfield’s win over St. Johnsbury.
Emma Parent registered six saves in the shutout for the Cougars (10-5).
Samantha Turgeon had 11 saves in net for the Hilltoppers (5-8-1).
•(5) Rutland 3, (12) Burlington 0: Rutland’s Jordan DelBianco scored twice and Brooke Woodard registered a third score to send the host Raiders past the Burlington.
Loren Henderson had seven saves for Rutland (10-5).
Goalkeeper Norah Mitchell had seven saves for the Seahorses (6-9).
D-II GIRLS SOCCER
•(2) Milton 5, (15) Fair Haven 0: Tatum Shappy dialed up a hat trick, including a 40-yard strike for the game’s opening goal, as host Milton pulled away from Fair Haven.
Dallas Brodhead and Cait Dabagian (assist) also scored for the Yellowjackets (11-4), who outshot the Slaters 37-2. Madison North and Madison Chalmers split time in net for the clean sheet.
Fair Haven’s Bekah Parent and Kyra Trombley combined for 15 saves, keeping Milton off the board until the 38th minute.
•(9) Hartford 1, (8) Lake Region 0: Belle Liester’s header in the 48th minute lifted visiting Hartford (8-7) to the win over Lake Region.
The Rangers (9-5-1) outshot the visitors 7-6.
D-III GIRLS SOCCER
•(3) Peoples 3, (14) Richford 2 (OT): Jamie Barrett converted a feed from McKenna Montminy a minute into overtime to help host Peoples dodge an upset bid from Richford.
Barrett also got the Wolves (10-4-1) on the board in the first half. Sophie Carlson gave the hosts a 2-1 lead at halftime and Beronica Tatro finished with four saves.
Alex Benoit and Haley Snider tallied for the Rockets (4-9-2) as they forced overtime. Jalen Collins finished with 11 saves.
•(3) Stowe 3, (14) Thetford 0: Darien Boerger scored with five minutes left in the first half and Katelyn O’Toole tallied five minutes into the second as host Stowe blanked Thetford.
Laura Glands struck with 10 seconds to play to cap the scoring for Stowe (10-4-1), which got two saves from Zoe Ruffle.
Thetford’s Danielle Robinson posted 10 saves.
•(6) Rivendell 4, (11) Enosburg 0: Quenla Haehnel scored on two setpieces, Amanda Otis also struck twice and host Rivendell defeated Enosburg.
Haehnel tallied on a first-half direct kick and a second-half penalty shot for Rivendell. Taylor Acheson made six saves.
Hailey picked up eight saves for Enosburg.
•(7) Windsor 3, (10) Northfield 1: Emily Williams struck twice for host Windsor, which opened up a 2-0 halftime edge to fend off Northfield.
Maddy Morse also scored for the Yellow Jackets (10-4-1).
Courtney Amell tallied the lone goal for the Marauders (7-8).
D-I FIELD HOCKEY
•(8) Middlebury 3, (9 ) Mount Anthony 0: Mikayla Humiston each Makayla Foster each had a goal and an assist as host Middlebury ousted Mount Anthony.
Humiston scored in the first half while Foster notched her tally after the break before Lily Smith’s shorthanded goal closed out the scoring.
Kate Billings made six saves for the Tigers (5-9-1). Savannah Rogers turned back eight shots for the Patriots (4-10-1).
