SOUTH BURLINGTON – David Boerman notched four goals and three assists as Rice pulled away from Rutland for a 18-5 high school boys lacrosse victory Monday afternoon.
Kyle Haskins (three assists) and Emerson Prager had hat tricks for Rice (2-0).
Sully Baker added two goals and three assists, and Paddy Mangan also scored twice for the Green Knights (2-0), who led 8-3 at halftime and 17-4 after three quarters. Dylan Marchand stopped eight shots.
Rutland got two goals from Bobby Bergen and single tallies from Trotan McGee (two assists), Joe Torres and Aiden Rielly. Kevin Macfarlane made four saves.
• South Burlington 13, Colchester 0: Cam Nolting struck for four goals and five assists as host South Burlington produced a shutout of Colchester.
Kyle Murakami (two goals, three assists), Dylan Avery (two goals, assist) and Max Capano (two goals, assist) also contributed for 4-2 SBHS. Mike Blauvelt made four saves.
Camden LeClair turned back 14 shots for the Lakers.
•Mount Mansfield 12, Spaulding 5: Visiting Mount Mansfield erased a 3-1 deficit to upend Spaulding.
Dom Mosca totaled five goals and Travis Benson had three goals and three assists to lead the Cougars. Will Macone made eight saves.
Matt Thompson turned back a dozen shots for the Crimson Tide.
•Burlington 19, Colchester 4: Casey O’Neill and Madison each supplied six goals as visiting Burlington defeated Colchester for the second time this season.
Freshman Kelsi Wallace scored half of Colchester’s goals.
Burlington’s Ajla Medic and Colchester’s Chelsea Wimble stopped nine shots apiece.
• U-32 18, Lamoille 4: Ella Wanzer racked up seven goals and three assists to power U-32 to a win at Lamoille.
Natalie Hayes (assist) and Emma Olmsted added hat tricks and Brenna Connor made 10 saves for U-32, last year’s Division II state champion.
• Rutland 7, Essex 4 (8): Rutland scratched across three runs in the eighth inning to complete its rally at Essex.
Skylar LaFerrier had a run-scoring single in the three-run frame while Jacob Godfrey was rewarded the tying RBI in the seventh after getting plunked with the bases loaded.
Andy Kenosh went 2-for-5 with an RBI and Brandon Westburg picked up the win in relief for 4-1 Rutland.
For Essex (1-3), Joey Robertson doubled twice in a three-hit day and Noah Baez went 2-for-4. Maverick King was tagged with the loss.
•North Country 15, Lyndon 0 (6): Kylie Wright tossed five innings of no-hit ball, striking out nine and walking three as host North Country blanked Lyndon.
Wright (home run), Kasey Champney (home run), Alysha Grenier (three RBIs), Mikaela Morse and Callie Young each had two hits for the Falcons (1-1).
Brianna Doty took the loss for the Vikings (1-2).
