HS Roundup: Corning boys lacrosse open with win at home

Aidan Olmstead scored five goals and added four assists to lead the Corning boys lacrosse team to a 15-7 win over Shaker Saturday in a non-league match in Corning.

The Hawks led a close, 6-4, match at the half before pulling away in the second half with nine goals. Sam Crusha had three goals and an assist while Josh Bodson, Kyle Grimaldi and Cale Donegan added two goals apiece. Cater Smith made five saves for Corning (1-0).

Corning outshot Shaker 34-18 and held a 15-10 edge in ground balls.

Elmira 7, Owego 2: At Elmira on Friday, Nick Latshaw scored two goals to lead the Express to a Section 4 win. Elmira goalie Brandon Taft made 11 saves. The Express outshot Owego 27-17 and held a 29-21 advantage in ground balls.

Johnson City 20, Elmira Notre Dame 0: At Notre Dame on Friday, Shane Majewski scored seven goals and added six assists to lead the Wildcats.
