COLCHESTER – Kate Hall scored three of her team’s four second-half goals as South Burlington continued its unbeaten start with a 4-0 win over Colchester in high school field hockey action Monday.
Maggie Miller also tallied and Liz Sargent’s 11 saves included a penalty stroke stop for the 7-0 Rebels, who face Champlain Valley and Essex later this week.
Abby Ladd turned back 13 shots for Colchester (0-7).
• Essex 1, Champlain Valley 1: Essex’s Jenna Puleo and Champlain Valley’s Jamie Pashby-Rockwood traded first-half goals as the two Metro powers played to a tie.
Mady Corkum collected 13 saves for Essex (4-1-2). Tasha Pashby-Rockwood did not record a save in net but Stasha Rup earned a defensive stop for CVU (4-2-1).
•U-32 2, Rice 1: Aine Kennedy scored both goals, the latter midway through the second half to break a deadlock, and U-32 seized a home win over Rice.
Anna Schibli scored in the third minute and Hannah Miller made 10 saves for Rice (3-4)
Natalie Lavigne also had 10 stops for the Raiders (6-2).
• Colchester 2, South Burlington 0: Clara Johnson assisted the first goal and scored the second as host Colchester improved to 8-0 at South Burlington’s expense.
Greetje Scheller had the first goal for the Lakers, with Danielle Whitham working a two-save shutout.
Bailey Burt had 16 saves for the Rebels (3-5).
•Burlington 3, Essex 0: Reeve Flynn headed in the opening goal four minutes in and Burlington blanked Essex at Buck Hard Field.
Abigail Feeney provided the assist on the corner kick on Flynn’s tally and also set up Tatum Vachereau’s strike 10 minutes later.
Vachereau assisted Noe Musman’s second-half goal to complete the scoring while Norah Mitchell made seven saves for BHS (3-5).
Hannah Bovee had five stops for Essex (4-4).
•Champlain Valley 2, Mount Mansfield 0: After a scoreless first half, Sierra Morton and Ali Bisaccia found the back of the net in Champlain Valley’s win over visiting Mount Mansfield.
Michaela Flore made three saves for CVU (7-1).
Emma Parent turned back 14 shots for MMU (5-3).
•North Country 3, Spaulding 2: Faith Gosselin and Jamey Gray notched first-half goals and North Country won at Spaulding.
Devinnie Davis added a second-half tally and Roxann Downing made 13 saves for the Falcons (5-4).
Kloey Taylor alf and Jessica Scott had 0-9 Spaulding’s goals. Lindsey LaPan stopped 15 shots.
•Green Mountain Valley 3, Stratton Mountain 1: Ian Woolson scored in each half as Green Mountain Valley won at Stratton.
28th minute: Carter Kendig also tallied and Trevor McGlaflin made six saves for 3-2 GMVS.
