Elmira Notre Dame won every event in a 116-16 victory over visiting Watkins Glen in an Interscholastic Athletic Conference girls track and field meet Tuesday at Brewer Memorial Stadium.
Deb Diarra won the 100-meter dash (13.3) and 400 (1:00.2) for the Crusaders. Mia Herlan had wins in the 400 hurdles (1:16.2) and high jump (4 feet, 8 inches), Laurel Karee won the 100 hurdles (18.9) and triple jump (29 feet, 8 inches), and Anna Lackner won the shot put (28 feet, 11 inches) and the discus (104 feet, 2 1/2 inches).
Elmira 88, Horseheads 43: At Horseheads, Abbey Wheeler, Claudette Belgrave and Amari Hadlock each had two individual wins to lead the Express past Horseheads in a Southern Tier Athletic Conference meet.
Wheeler won the 800 (2:28.5) and 1,500 (5:06.10), Belgrave tied for first with teammate Ava Pellor in the 100 dash (14.0) and won the 200 (28.70), and Hadlock won the triple jump (28 feet, 9 3/4 inches) and the long jump (14 feet, 4 inches).
Boys track and field
Elmira 91, Horseheads 49: At Horseheads, Jack Ladouce and Jon Fleming were double winners for the Express in a STAC victory.
Ladouce won the 1,600 (4:48.70) and 3,200 (10:24.70), and Fleming won the shot put (45 feet, 3 inches) and the discus (106 feet, 2 inches).
Horseheads’ Micah Page won the long jump (18 feet, 4 1/4 inches) and the high jump (5 feet, 6 inches).
Watkins Glen 78, Notre Dame 41: At Notre Dame, Kevin Kernan, Patrick Hazlitt, Ryan Pruit and Jacob Slater each won two individual events to lift the Senecas to an IAC victory.
Kernan won the 110 hurdles and 400 hurdles, Hazlitt won the 400 and 800, Pruitt won the 100 and 200 dashes, and Slater won the long jump and triple jump.
Horseheads 8, Ithaca 4: At Ithaca, state-ranked Horseheads erupted for seven runs in the sixth inning to chase Ithaca starter Sammy Meminger, and the Blue Raiders went on to defeat the Little Red in STAC action.
Zakkery Granger hit a three-run double in the sixth inning to get Horseheads even at 4-4. Matt Smith followed with an RBI single to give the Blue Raiders the lead.
Horseheads, ninth in the most recent state Class AA rankings, improved to 10-1. The Blue Raiders rallied for a 6-3 home win over Ithaca (3-5) on Friday.
Tioga 8, Waverly 5: At Waverly, the Wolverines’ seventh-inning rally fell short in an IAC loss. Down 8-2, Waverly scored three runs in the last inning. Brendan Stillman homered for Waverly (7-3, 6-3 in IAC).
Watkins Glen 15, Candor 14: At Candor, John Smith went 3-for-4 with three RBIs for Watkins Glen in an IAC win. Justin Kelly added a homer. Jared Carocci and James Updyke each had two hits and two RBIs, and Sean Kelly also had two hits.
Elmira 7, Binghamton 0: At Binghamton on Monday, Calvin Blish pitched a three-hit shutout with 12 strikeouts in the Express’ STAC win.
Horseheads 16, Ithaca 0: At Ithaca, McKenna Mattison pitched a one-hitter and Horseheads scored 15 runs in the first three innings and beat STAC foe Ithaca in a game called after five innings because of the 15-run rule.
Jill Murray was 3-for-4 with a double, two runs and three RBIs for Horseheads, which was a 15-0 winner over Ithaca at home Friday. Kelly Losito doubled and drove in two runs for Horseheads (8-2, 6-1 STAC). Jenna Richmond tripled, Emily Knowlden doubbled and Amber Terlaje had two RBIs.
Mattison struck out four and walked one.
Corning 15, Union-Endicott 2: At U-E, Kyle Grimaldi, John Dobson and Sam Crusha scored three goals each to lead the Hawks to a Section 4 win. Aiden Olmstead added two goals and a team-high five assists while Grimaldi had two assists. Corning outshot the Tigers 40-21 and held a 25-12 advantage in ground balls.
Waverly 336, Johnson City 342: At Endwell Greens Golf Club, Alex Tomasso shot a 46 to earn medalist honors in helping the Wolverines girls earn an IAC win.
Notre Dame def. Edison, forfeit: At Mark Twain Golf Course, the Crusaders boys improved to 7-0 as Edison had just four golfers. Zach Brand shot a 2-over par 38 for Notre Dame to earn medalist honors. Mike Stearns followed with a 39.
On Monday, Notre Dame defeated Newark Valley, 210 to 282 at Mark Twain. Brand shot a one-under par 35 for medalist honors.
O-M 251, Groton 347: At Watkins Glen, Tyler Clark shot a 4-over-par 40 to lead the Indians to an IAC boys win.
Maine-Endwell 4, Horseheads 3: At Maine-Endwell, the Blue Raiders took three of four singles matches in a STAC loss.
Notre Dame 6, Watkins Glen 1: At Elmira Notre Dame, the Crusaders captured six straight-set wins in an IAC contest.
