CHICAGO – Sofia Huerta can add another accolade to her resume.
The Centennial alum was named the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) player of the month for May on Wednesday. The Chicago Red Stars forward scored five goals in five games, finished second in league scoring, just behind Washington Spirit forward Crystal Dunn’s six goals.
This is the third award of the season for Huerta, who won back-to-back player of the week honors in May, the first rookie in NSWL history to do so.
The undefeated Red Stars (4-0-3) will travel to Rochester, N.Y., to face the Western New York Flash on Saturday, June 6.
