Basketball recruiting takes center stage in July but there’s a bit of local football news that’s noteworthy today.

Hunter Johnson, the heralded junior quarterback at Brownsburg, was ranked as the nation’s No. 4 overall prospect in the initial Rivals250 for the 2017 graduating class. Johnson, who owns a long list of offers that includes Florida, Indiana, Iowa, Miami (Fla.), Michigan, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Penn State, Purdue, Tennessee and many more, is the nation’s No. 1 quarterback prospect in the class according to Rivals.

Johnson is the lone Indiana prospect listed among the Rivals250. There are seven Big Ten commits on the list – Ohio State has five and Michigan State and Iowa one apiece.
