With several fundraisers over the past four years, the Mountain Home Hurricane swim team was able to purchase eight new Paragon swim blocks valued at $16,856 and recently gifted the City of Mountain Home with the state-of-the-art blocks.
Over the years, many swim teams have formed and used the pool. The current team truly appreciates the great facility provided for their use by the city.
Due to a change of safety laws about diving, and the aging starting blocks the city bought, the team requested that the block location be changed to deeper water.
In doing so, it was a great opportunity to replace the 20-year-old blocks with a more current style with an easier installation process.
Eighteen Hurricane swimmers are joining 26 other South Wind Conference athletes at the AAU Junior Olympics, which began Thursday in Virginia Beach, Va.
