Coach Chris Vianest and his Ida Baker girls soccer team don’t forget easily.
Last week’s Region 3A-4 quarterfinal win over Estero was retribution for a regular season loss.
On Monday the revenge tour continued.
After Naples ended their season a year ago on their home field, the Bulldogs returned the favor with a dominant 3-0 regional semifinal victory that was never in question.
Gabi Morales and Roxie Fraser blitzed Naples (11-5-4) with a goal apiece in the first 20 minutes to advance to the regional final against two-defending state champion Plantation American Hertiage, which beat the Bulldogs (14-8-2) 9-1 earlier in the season, at 7 p.m. Friday.
Baker coach Christopher Vianest said losses just add fuel to the fire.
“We’re just here to wreck the party for everyone else,” Vianest said. “Keep telling us we shouldn’t be here and we’ll keep showing you what we’ve got.”
The Bulldogs controlled midfield and won most of the 50/50 balls throughout the game.
Morales, a senior captain, got loose on a counter attack, shook a defender and then beat Naples keeper Rilee Standriff in the 13th minute.
Gabby Hallnan found Fraser on a cross six minutes later.
Late in the the second half, Marcela Montoya settled a ball in the box and chipped it into the top half of the net.
“They were fired up,” Vianest said. “… Earlier in the season, we just couldn’t put it together. The last few weeks, something has happened where they’re all just getting it. It’s just clicking. They won’t be beat.”
