THE WINNER: Stefan Gonzalez

Weight: 185 pounds
Athletic achievement: He averaged 20 points and 6.4 rebounds per game while shooting 57 percent from inside the arc this past season, leading the Rams (23-4) to the Class 5A state final. A 2014 First Team All-State selection, Gonzalez also posted regular-season averages of four assists and two steals per game and registered 31 points in the state final against Post Falls.
Academic excellence: Gonzalez has maintained a 3.85 GPA.
Exemplary character: A member of the National Honor Society, he has volunteered locally on behalf of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Habitat for Humanity and the U.S. Marine Corps Toys for Tots Foundation.
“Gonzalez is an excellent basketball player and a very heady point guard,” said John Tucker, head coach at Bonneville High. “The game just seems to flow for his team and he has such control over what happens on the floor. His court vision is second to none and his ability to stuff the stat sheet was amazing. More than once, I felt we did a good job of containing him only to look at the stats and see that he dominated all over the floor.”
THE FUTURE: Gonzalez has signed with Saint Mary’s College of California.
