IHS hockey falls flat in season opener

It was a rough start to the hockey season for the Ithaca High School boys squad Tuesday night in Syracuse.

Eight different players scored goals for the Corcoran Cougars in their 8-3 victory over Ithaca High School at Meachem Rink.

The Little Red fell behind 5-0 and were scoreless until senior forward Brandon Shirley scored with one minute to go in the second period.

Senior forward Scott Partington scored the other Ithaca goals in a span of eight seconds with less than two minutes to play in the game.

Matt Eccles led the way for Corcoran, scoring a goal and adding four assists. Forward Colby Skrupa finished with four assists.

Also contributing to the Little Red attack were junior forward Jaeyoon Kim and sophomore defenseman Sam Roach, who both had a pair of assists.

The Little Red  will play in the West Genesee tournament this weekend at Shove Park in Camillus, starting at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
