Immokalee High hires Dale More to coach football

Former Cypress Lake head football coach Dale More was hired for the same position at Immokalee, the school announced Wednesday.

More, who spent last season as the Indians offensive coordinator, was one of approximately 60 candidates and was chosen by a selection committee made up of coaches, student athletes, Booster Club Members and community members, according to a news release.

He replaces Rich Dombroski, who resigned his position in December following a 4-7 campaign.

“The committee recognized the hard work, passion, dedication, and love of student athletes that Coach More emulates,” Immokalee principal Ken Fairbanks said. “I was looking for a coach who wants to strengthen an already established program so that when people think of Immokalee High football they think of athletic individuals with integrity, family, sportsmanship, loyalty, and a desire to make their school and community proud.”

More was 1-17 in his two-year stint at Cypress Lake, which came to an end when he was fired following an in-game incident in 2013 resulting in the Florida High School Athletic Association suspending 26 Cypress Lake players.

“My professional goal is to invest in and help sustain a solid football program that uses athletics to build character in young people, placing an emphasis on education, discipline, sportsmanship, and spiritual growth,” More said in the release.
