The sophomore campaign for Marco Gonzales isn’t going as smooth as he would have hoped.
In his second full season as a professional, the Rocky Mountain High School graduate has fought injury and then ineffectiveness since his return from the disabled list.
Gonzales has worked his way back to Triple A in the St. Louis Cardinals organization after missing all of June with a shoulder injury, but he still hasn’t found his top form.
Overall he’s 0-3 with a 6.39 ERA with the Memphis Redbirds. He allowed four earned runs in four innings pitched Thursday in his latest start.
On the flip side, former Rocky Mountain teammate Andy Burns is thriving in Triple A in the Toronto Blue Jays organization.
The infielder is hitting .289 and is second on the team with 21 RBI. He has three home runs and 33 RBI. He has a .970 fielding percentage and has played every position except centerfield, catcher and pitcher.
