TWIN FALLS — A teen from Hollister is dead after police say he was hit in a head-on crash.

Idaho State Police investigators say 18-year-old Michael Reichlein was traveling southbound on U.S. 93 near milepost 37 just before 10:30 p.m. Friday.

Police say 45-year-old Richard Nicholson of Henderson, Nevada was traveling northbound in the southbound lane of U.S. 93 when he hit Rechlein’s Dodge Durango. Police say Reichlein died at the scene.

Reichlein was a senior at Filer High School. Friends of the teen have set up a memorial for Reichlen with dozens of candles and flowers. A web page to help the family with funeral expenses can be found at www.gofundme.com.

Filer’s athletic director, LaRell Patterson, tells KTVB Reichlein was a great athlete and will be greatly missed. Patterson says Reichlen had just completed a wrestling tournament and was driving home at the time of the crash.

Meanwhile, Nicholson was taken to St. Luke’s Medical Center in Twin Falls. The extent of his injuries are unknown at the time.

Traffic on U.S. 93 was rerouted for a time, as all lanes were blocked while ISP investigated the crash.

Meanwhile, police say they have notified Reichlin’s family.

ISP says both drivers were wearing their seatbelts.
