In what has become an annual pastime, a Houston sports celebrity made a cameo appearance at an area high school football game. This time the appearance drove even more delirious excitement because of who the celebrity was: reining NFL Defensive MVP and Texans superstar J.J. Watt.

The larger than life defensive end appeared unannounced on the sidelines during Pearland’s face off against Dawson, a matchup which Pearland escaped with a 28-27 victory to remain undefeated.

As good as the game was on the field — and it was good, turning on a missed extra point in overtime – Watt’s appearance on the sideline earned even more attention, as the squealing Pearland crowd can attest to in the video directly below.

This is not the first time that Watt has attended a high school game near his professional hometown, though he now may have to make his appearances a bit less obvious than his prior crowd-sourced efforts. Still, they continue to drive plenty of attention and please plenty of fans, all of which can only help shine a spotlight on one of Texas’ true treasures: prep football.
