Here’s a look at this week’s candidates for the Lansing State Journal prep athlete of the week. Voting is open until noon Wednesday.
BRANDON ALLEN, HASLETT BOYS BASKETBALL – The junior guard averaged 25 points to help the Vikings pick up wins over Owosso and Portland. He made eight 3s while scoring 28 in a 63-28 victory over Portland on Tuesday and scored 22 in a 60-55 win over Owosso on Friday.
TEONA FELDPAUSCH, OLIVET GIRLS BASKETBALL – Helped the Eagles stay in the thick of the Greater Lansing Activities Conference race with wins over Lakewood and Stockbridge. She scored 21 in a 56-51 win over Lakewood and followed with 23 points in Friday’s win over Stockbridge.
LANE MCVICKER, EATON RAPIDS WRESTLING – The 145-pounder added to what’s been a strong season by going undefeated at the Lakewood Duals on Saturday. He helped the Greyhounds post wins over Laingsburg, Webberville, Grand Haven, Delton Kellogg and host Lakewood.
OLIVIA ROE, PORTLAND GIRLS BASKETBALL – Scored 33 points in lone game of the week as the Raiders’ picked up a key victory over Ionia in a battle of CAAC White contenders.
