A new head football coach is coming to Estero High and it’s a familiar name.
Former Lehigh Senior High defensive coordinator Jeff Hanlon was named the Wildcats head coach on Tuesday following interest from over 60 applicants.
“We are excited to have Coach Hanlon come on board to lead our football program,” Estero principal Clayton Simmons said in a news release.”His past and present history with the school gives him a true understanding of what it means to be an Estero Wildcat on and off the field.”
Hanlon was a defensive coordinator for a Lehigh team last season that gave up an average of 34.2 points per game and finished 2-8 on the season under head coach Nate Sund.
Estero was 2-8 in 2014 and 7-14 overall under Mark Jackson, whose term with the Wildcats lasted two seasons.
A search committee was used to select the new head coach of the program.
