Jefferson Academy tops Frontier Academy in overtime

KUSA – The Jefferson Academy Jaguars girls soccer team has advanced to the 3A state semifinals, for the first time in school history, with a 3-2 overtime win against the Frontier Academy Wolverines on Thursday.

The game was tied 1-1 at half, but Marissa Chapman scored in the second half to put the Jaguars up 2-1.  The Wolverines wouldn’t go away, however.  The Jags received a yellow card which resulted in a Wolverines’ direct kick just outside of the box.  Breanna Olson took the shot which ricocheted off of a Jefferson Academy defender for the own-goal.

The game would head into overtime, but it wouldn’t take long for Jaguars’ Alycia Wright to score the game winner.

Jefferson Academy will play The Academy on Saturday at 1:30pm at All City Stadium.

Frontier Academy finishes the season with a 12-5 record.
