Jenkins High School senior Whitney Creech on Wednesday became the third girls basketball player in Kentucky history to reach 4,000 career points.
Creech had 35 points and 16 rebounds as Jenkins lost 74-59 to Ridgeview (Va.) at the UVA-Wise Tournament. Creech, who joined the varsity program as a sixth-grader, now has 4,032 career points.
A 5-foot-9 guard, Creech signed with Western Kentucky University last month.
Highlands’ Jaime Walz (4,948 points from 1991-96) and McDowell’s Geri Grigsby (4,385 points from 1975-77) are the other players from Kentucky to reach 4,000 career points.
