A junior varsity football game in North Carolina was halted in the third quarter Thursday night after three players were carted off on stretchers in two separate incidents.
Two players for Apex Friendship High (Apex, N.C.) were injured against Middle Creek on the same play in the second quarter, according to reports. A witness told WNCN that the two players were responsive following what appeared to be a helmet-to-helmet collision. The third player was injured in the third quarter.
“All the parents there were very concerned. There was not a sound. All the cheerleaders were huddled on knee and all the football players did as well,” a witness told WNCN in a phone interview.
Coach Adam Sanders said Friday morning that all three players returned home and are “doing well.”
