Kentucky regional basketball Players of the Year chosen

The Kentucky Association of Basketball Coaches has announced its Players of the Year for all 16 of the state’s regions.

The awards are limited to seniors.

On the boys’ side, Doss’ Dujuanta Weaver was named Sixth Region Player of the Year. Manual’s Dwayne Sutton, Trinity’s Raymond Spalding and Ballard’s Jalen Perry shared the Seventh Region Player of the Year award. Oldham County’s Hayden Hawes was selected Eighth Region Player of the Year.

On the girls’ side, Mercy’s Malerie Martin was named Sixth Region Player of the Year and Presentation’s Alex Hibbs took Seventh Region Player of the Year honors.

Each winner will be on the ballot for Kentucky’s Mr. and Miss Basketball awards.

Boys: First Region – Parker Adams (Calloway County); Second – David Simmons (Henderson County); Third – Aric Holman (Owensboro); Fourth – Dillon Geralds (Monroe County); Fifth – Eljay Cowherd (Bardstown); Sixth – Dujuanta Weaver (Doss); Seventh – Dwayne Sutton (Manual), Raymond Spalding (Trinity), Jalen Perry (Ballard); Eighth – Hayden Hawes (Oldham County); Ninth – Drew McDonald (Newport Central Catholic), James Bolden (Holmes); 10th – Dorian Henry (Mason County); 11th – Matt Rose (Lexington Christian); 12th – Hagen Tyler (Boyle County); 13th – Skyler Griffith (Williamsburg); 14th – Camron Justice (Knott County Central); 15th – Kyle Gullett (Johnson Central); 16th – Ryne Callahan (Rowan County).

Girls: First Region – Karlee Humphrey (Paducah Tilghman); Second – DeAsia Outlaw (Henderson County); Third – J’Nayah Hall (Apollo), Morgan Turner (Meade County); Fourth – Morgan Rich (Allen County-Scottsville); Fifth – Alexis Brewer (Bardstown), Reauna Cleaver (Elizabethtown); Sixth – Malerie Martin (Mercy); Seventh – Alex Hibbs (Presentation); Eighth – Hannah Dossett (Gallatin County); Ninth – Ally Mayhaus (Covington Holy Cross); 10th – Sandra Skinner (Clark County); 11th – Dee Givens (Lafayette); 12th – Cameron McPherson (Danville); 13th – Maci Morris (Bell County); 14th – Katie Moore (Leslie County); 15th – Kelsey Garcia (Sheldon Clark); 16th – Alexis Robinson (Ashland Blazer).
