Whatever you do, don’t say Skal Labissiere isn’t taking his Kentucky future seriously.

On Tuesday, Labissiere officially swore off all social media for the forthcoming two months — from now until the 15th of August — so he could focus on training for the 2015-16 college basketball season and his academic future at Kentucky, a process which is in his immediate view as summer school kicks off.

Here was the Instagram post released from Labissiere’s account detailing the full justification behind his decision.

Labissiere isn’t the first athlete to drop social media for more pressing issues — LeBron James is famously on a Twitter and Instagram break during the NBA playoffs — but it’s a whole different animal when an 18-year-old tries to walk away from all social media cold turkey. It will be some impressive feat if Labissiere makes it all the way through the summer session without a Tweet or Instagrammed selfie.

Then again, Labissiere knows he has a serious future, and he’s ready to get down to brass tacks. These days, that begins in summer school, so there’s no time like the present.
