
FVA baseball roundup
A three-run second inning helped power the Kimberly baseball team to a 4-1 victory over Appleton East in a Fox Valley Association game Tuesday at Sunset Park in Kimberly.
The Papermakers took a 1-0 lead in the first inning, scoring the run on singles by Griffin Hawley and Brice Swick and a fielder’s choice by Austin Weyenberg.
Kimberly, which stayed a game ahead of Oshkosh North in first place in the FVA, put three on the board in the second inning on a three-run double by Ben Carew.
Brice Swick pitched six innings for the Papermakers, allowing three hits, three walks and a run while striking out four. Danny VandenBoom pitched the seventh inning to earn the save.
The Patriots had only five hits and committed three errors.

At Appleton, a bunt single with a wild throw on the play and a two-run single by Tyce Wheeler allowed the Lightning (12-5, 7-4) to come from behind for the win over the Cardinals.
