A consolation-round game between Gainesville (Ga.) and Miami (Fla.) Senior on Monday in the Forcht Bank King of the Bluegrass Holiday Classic was canceled because of a fight involving both teams.
Gainesville led 20-10 with 1:26 remaining in the first quarter when the incident began.
Tournament director Lloyd Gardner said he contacted members of the state associations in both Georgia and Florida and was told both teams would be suspended two games. Therefore, neither Gainesville nor Miami Senior will play in the rest of the tournament.
As a result, the schedule for Tuesday’s consolation-round games has been revised. Fairdale will face Bowling Green at 6 p.m. In the consolation-round semifinals, Owen County will face the Waggener-Taylor County winner at 7:30 p.m. and Ballard will meet the Waggener-Taylor County loser at 9 p.m.
