More from the Bulldogs:
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – UNC Asheville sophomore Cameron Pryor has been named the Big South Conference’s Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week for her play last week, the conference announced today.
Pryor notched 17 block assists, three block solos and three digs as the Bulldogs rolled off four consecutive victories last weekend in the UNC Asheville Invitational. In addition to her defensive numbers, Pryor finished with 32 kills in 15 total sets on her way to being named the tournament’s MVP. Overall, Pryor and the Bulldogs have won five straight matches and sit at 6-3 on the season to this point.
Pryor becomes the first Asheville player named as one of the conference’s volleyball players of the week since former Bulldog Rachel Wells was named defensive player of the week on the final week of the regular season in the 2013 campaign.
Pryor and the rest of the Bulldogs are back in action on Friday and Saturday when they travel to take on The Citadel, Wright State and North Florida in The Citadel Invitational. Asheville returns home to the Justice Center next Friday, September 25 when they host Gardner-Webb to open Big South Conference play.
