The Mountain Home Lady Bombers repeated as the champions of the Lady Dawg Softball Invitational on Saturday at Van Buren, Mo.
Pitcher Hannah Cantrell pitched 16 innings over three games and struck out 20 batters, walked only four, and allowed 12 hits and three unearned runs in the tournament.
Mountain Home defeated Alton, Mo., 12-6, in the first game in five innings with Cantrell striking out seven and allowing one unearned run in three innings.
Raygan Shelton had a double, single and four RBI for the Lady Bombers, while Madeline Collins added a double and single, Morgan Pierski notched a double and two RBI, Maly Tabor had a double and single, Alivia O’Brien had two singles, Michelle Beebe had one single and Riley Walker drew three walks and reached on an error from her lead-off spot.
Mountain Home rolled to a 9-0 victory over Twin Rivers, Mo., in the second game, receiving four strikeouts from Cantrell in six innings in the circle.
Freshman Sydnie Zimmer had three singles and scored two runs to lead the Lady Bombers, while Macie Kelly notched a triple and a double, Shelton added a double and two RBI, Walker had two singles and scored two runs, Cantrell had a double and single, Katie Strain had a single and scored a run, Tabor had a double, and Peyton Gunn and Beebe each had singles.
The Lady Bombers took a 7-2 victory over the previously undefeated host team in the finals.
Cantrell struck out nine over seven innings in the circle for Mountain Home (10-9), while Van Buren fell to 15-1 on the season.
Gunn hit a home run in the fifth inning and added a single, while Strain and Walker each had two singles with two runs scored. Zimmer notched a single and scored a run, while Kelly, Cantrell and Beebe each added a single.
Mountain Home will travel to Searcy on Wednesday for a 7A/6A-East Conference contest.
