REYNOLDSBURG – Zanesville raced out to a 10-3 first-quarter lead en route to a 37-26 win over Westerville South on Sunday in the Reynoldsburg Classic.
The Lady Devils led 17-9 at the half and 25-18 after three quarters; Tasia Staunton led the way with 12 points and nine rebounds, while Destiny Johnson added nine points, seven rebounds, three assists and two steals.
Kenzie Newsom and Kylie Newsom added five points each; Karissa Weekley chipped in four points, seven rebounds, three assists and three steals; and Lexi Draughn had two points to round out the Zanesville scoring.
The Lady Devils shot 33 percent (12 of 36) and were 11 of 19 at the line, while South was just 8 of 45 from the floor, 3 of 20 on 3s and 7 of 14 on free throws.
Joslyn Goins had 10 points as the Zanesville reserves won 41-24.
