MOORESVILLE, N.C. — Rob McNeely’s Lake Norman Wildcats opened North Piedmont Conference play with a convincing 36-6 win over West Iredell on Friday.
The Wildcats’ offense has started to find its groove following the loss of Gatorade Player of the Year Josh Ladowski. Lake Norman has averaged a tick over 32 points per game this season, scoring at least 27 in four of five contests.
Hayden Carlson put Lake Norman on the board early Friday, finding Joey Stange on a 17-yard touchdown pass. On the Wildcats’ next possession, Carlson again tossed a touchdown, this time connecting with Luke Miller from 25 yards out. At the half, Lake Norman was in charge 29-0, cruising to the easy victory.
Lake Norman will catch a break next week, hosting Statesville on Friday. The Greyhounds will have two games in a week as they host Mooresville in a rescheduled game on Monday.
