Lake Travis golfer is becoming a national name

AUSTIN — Kristen Gillman is only 17-years-old and she has built a resume similar to the one Tiger Woods had at the same age.

The Lake Travis High School junior has won the U.S. Women’s Amateur and the Junior PGA Championship girls titles.

Just last week, Gillman played in the LPGA’s Swinging Skirts tournament as an amateur. That was Gillman’s second LPGA event she participated in.

She has already determined where she will continue her golf career after graduating from Lake Travis High School. Gillman has committed to the University of Alabama.

Kristin finished third in the 2015 6A UIL State Tournament in Georgetown, but she did lead Lake Travis to the program’s second state title in girls golf.

See more in her story above. Tune in to @KvueSports on Saturday at 6:30 p.m. to see the extended story about Kristin Gillman.
