Lakeland and Milford wrestling took part in the same regional Saturday at Howell and both schools will will be represented at the state finals.
Lakeland’s Andy Bovay and Will Jacobs both finished runner-up at the regional to move on.
For Milford, Brandon Krol and David Joyner also advanced.
The state finals for all divisions are March 5-7 at The Palace of Auburn Hills.
The Eagles had three wrestlers at the regionals: Bovay, Jacobs and Nolan Klapac.
Bovay and Jacobs both qualified for states by reaching the regional finals undefeated, guaranteeing a trip to The Palace.
Bovay pinned his first two opponents to reach the regional finals at 189 pounds before losing by pin to Nick May from Kalmazoo Loy Norrix. The senior is 41-7 entering states.
Jacobs pinned his first opponent at 160 pounds and reached the finals with a 15-8 decision. Brighton’s Beau Mourer took the title with an 11-3 victory. The senior takes a 45-7 record to states.
Klapec took a 40-5 record to the regional at 103 pounds, but lost his opening match, 9-8. The sophomore fought back for a 15-1 win to reach the blood round, but was pinned to finish one match shy of moving on.
Krol won a district title and won by pin in his opening regional match. Krol lost 6-4 in the next round and had to come out of the blood round to move on. The junior won 8-4 to reach the third-place match, where he took third on an injury forfeit.
Joyner went a similar route in the 140-pound bracket with a 7-5 win in the opening round before falling 11-2 to go to the blood round. The senior held on for a 2-1 win to reach the third-place match before losing 7-4 to finish fourth but locking in a qualifying spot.
Tim Nelson, a senior, went 0-2 at 130 pounds, as did junior Blake Peterson at 215.
