Little Giants send 22 qualifiers to swimming districts


The Fremont Ross swimming and diving teams will send 22 qualifiers to next week’s Division I district tournament at Bowling Green State University following Saturday’s Northwest District sectional tournament at Ross’s Hawk-Bucci Natatorium.

The top 32 individuals and top 24 relay teams in each event from across the Northwest District qualify for the district tournament.

Allie Rellinger, Abby Sweeney, Brina Hyrnciw, Niko Gutierrez and Marquis Crawford will represent the Little Giants’ divers.

Alaina Klingman had the top time in the 500 free (5:32.11), while Haley Fisher was first in the 200 individual medley (2:11.65) and the 100 butterfly (58.7). Kortni Lagrou won the 200 free (2:02.63). Meghan Moses took first in the 50 free (24.53) and the 100 free (54.21), and Morgan Waggoner was first in the 100 backstroke (1:01.22). Waggoner, Haley Fisher, Kaity Kelly and Moses won the 200 free relay (1:40.00). Haley Fisher, Waggoner, Moses and Klingman also won the 400 free (3:41.43). Morgan Hawk, Holly Fisher, Kelly, and Klingman finished second in the 200 medley relay (1:58.98).

Andrew Evans, Nick Hoffman and Hawk Smith were the top three finishers in the 200 IM respectively. Evans was also first in the 100 breaststroke (1:02.89). Trent Williams took first in the 100 free (48.81) and the 100 backstroke (55.20). Braydn Klein was second (51.78) in the 100 free. Evans, Nick Dorobek, Will Taylor and Klein won the 200 relay (1:35.48). Hoffman, Klein, Smith and Trent Williams won the 400 free relay (3:24.00). Tate Williams, Trent Williams, Hoffman and Smith were second in the 200 medley relay (1:41.94). Bo Tong, who was fourth in the 100 butterfly and fifth in the 100 backstroke also qualifed for Ross.
